Pet Stains
Urine Stains & Removal
Urine is the #1 cause of permanent stains on area rugs and wall-to-wall carpets. The odor from the urine as well as the stain it leaves behind contributes to the damage.
The odor found in urine saturated area rugs and wall-to-wall carpets comes from the bacterial action. Urine left unattended can permeate the fibers and go into the back of the carpet or rug and even into the pad and the floor below.
As it dries, urine becomes microscopic urine salts. These attach to the backing of the carpet or rug until times of high humidity, when they will be reactivated and become food again for bacteria causing the return of the urine odor.
Odor removal from Wall-to-Wall Carpet
For urine-saturated wall-to-wall carpet, it is usually hard to completely eliminate the odor. In some cases it is more cost-effective to remove and replace the carpet and pad rather than to attempt odor removal. It is important as well to clean and/or sand and seal the floor under the carpet or rug before replacement.
Odor Removal from Area Rugs
However, odor in area and oriental rugs can be completely removed as long as there is not a glued-on backing holding the fibers to the rug.
Area and oriental rugs can be brought to our cleaning plant for odor removal, which will completely remove the urine salts by dissolving and thoroughly rinsing them out of the rug.
Unfortunately, urine stains cannot be fully removed successfully, though they can be lightened.
Feces Stains & Removal
Although solid feces are much easier to clean up and remove than urine, loose feces or diarrhea can be just as difficult as urine. It can also be detrimental to the quality of the home environment.
Vomit Stains & Removal
Vomit is really difficult to clean, especially when it’s on your carpet. It sips deep into the fibers and removing it can be a challenge. The longer vomit stays on your carpet, the harder it will be to remove and the risk of permanent stain is higher.
Cat owners seem to be the target of vomit stains, much than dog owners. But dogs, children, and adults often contribute as well. Stomach acids, medicines, and food dyes are the main reason why vomit can permanent stain your carpet. Vomit is not only unsightly, but it can also cause a serious odor problem in your home.
Professional Carpet Cleaning is the most effective method for removing vomit from your carpet. Professional Carpet Cleaning machines use high-powered suction to remove stains and dirt from carpets. They are also effective in removing odors.
Pet Odor
Pet urine can damage permanently your floors, rugs and fabrics. It can also create an unhealthy indoor environment. If the urine is left for days or weeks, depending on the fabric or floor type, it will change the dye structure.
THERE ARE TWO SOURCES OF ODORS ASSOCIATED WITH URINE
1. It comes from bacteria that grow in dark warm places with a never-ending food source. A pet can feed the bacteria daily! When dried urine is remoistened, it gives off an ammonia gas.
2. It comes from chemical odor that is present even when the bacteria have been killed. That`s why more than sanitizing is needed to neutralize odors from urine. You must get rid of the urine salts in and under the carpet to get rid of the odor.
This is the main reason why cleaning existing urine spots WILL NOT remove any associated odor. In fact, it could may increase the odor in the air space for a temporary period of time as humidity and temperatures rise. Yet, this will decrease once the padding & carpet is fully dry.
Pet Treatments
Our experienced Technicians will evaluate and discuss the level of treatment required prior to providing any treatments. And any recommendations are optional. If declined please note that our satisfaction guarantee becomes void. We classify the pet damage in 3 different levels of treatment (subject to inspection):
LEVEL 1
Light Urine Damage – the accident just happen and it was taken care right the way
This process can kill bacteria and remove most urine. It will not address any odor or contamination underneath the carpet. (not a guaranteed service)
LEVEL 2
Medium to Heavy Urine Damage – the accidents have been happening over and over again
A deep saturation and extraction process used to treat medium to heavy issues that have penetrated into the carpet backing and/or carpet pad. (not a guaranteed service)
LEVEL 3
Excessive Urine Damage – the carpet and padding needs to be replaced
In this case carpet replacement will be recommended (carpet not guaranteed unless subfloor has been already sealed).
Our Process
Our urine odor process removes the odor by eliminating the source (dissolving the urea crystals). This way we are not masking the problem with enzyme digesters or deodorizers.
Urinte Treatment – Area Rugs
If your Area Rugs need odor removal, we will perform a complete Decontamination Soak or we will “marinate” your area rugs at our Plant. This process can completely remove that odor, but not necessarily all the stains from your area rugs. We are able to guarantee no chemicals or urine odor will remain in your rug.
However, we are unable to treat area rugs with secondary backings (broadlooms) or rugs with latex adhesive used to apply the secondary backing, such as in hand tufted, some hooked rugs, and olefin rugs. These adhesives do not release the urine once it has penetrated the rug. Therefore, rugs with any glues in their construction can NOT successfully go through the urine odor removal process.
Urine Treatment – Wall-To-Wall Carpet
Our Urine Treatment from wall-to-wall carpet combines our regular carpet cleaning process with an odor-eliminating treatment. We use a special pet stain carpet cleaner to destroy urine smells and neutralize odors for good!
- Identify Pet Smell – Many urine stains/accidents are hard to find with regular lighting. This can make it difficult for homeowners to detect the source of urine odors. Before we start the cleaning process, we will find any hidden pet accidents using UV lights.
- Clean Stained Surface – we will pretreat the urine stains and deep clean your carpeted area with our special cleaning solution.
- Remove Urine Odors – we will eliminate urine odors with our product.
What is the reason for Uine Stains?
Different types of fibers react to urine differently. On some, stains will almost immediately become visible and others may not show stains at all. However, even after Professional Carpet Cleaning, urine stains, in general, are permanent.,
Some of the reasons are:
- The urochrome pigment in urine can produce a strong yellow coloring and subsequent stain.
- The age, diet, and medications taken by the pet (or human) can also color the urine and stain the carpet or rug.
Other Urine Issues
- If not cleaned up quickly, urine can make dyes in the fibers unstable and it can either bleaching the carpet or the color will “bleed”.
- Urine left to accumulate can lead to a condition known as dry rot which causes cellulosic fiber (such as the cotton in the urine-saturated oriental and area rugs) to disintegrate.
- The presence of urine in a carpet or rug sends an irresistible invitation to moths to settle in.
- Also, by leaving the urine untreate and remaining in the carpet, the stain will become darker and the damage will occur to the foundation/subfloor.
Carpet Deodorizer
A deodorizer (sanitizer) can only kill bacteria on the pile and cannot reach the urea crystals attached to the foundation under the rug or the subfloor under the carpet & carpet padding. The effect of the deodorizer does not eliminate the odor. In order to remove odor, first, we will have to find what is the cause of the unpleasant smell.
Scent makes a powerful first impression & gives a sense of welcome, a breath of fresh air. We offer variety of deodorizers that provide long-lasting, fresh results.
Carpet Protector
Normally when dirt and spills get onto your carpet, they quickly sink deep into the fibers. This make them difficult to remove. When applied correctly, carpet protector acts as a shield to slow the rate of absorption, giving you more time to effectively remove the stains.
Carpet protector:
- Reduces wear from heavy foot-traffic
- Preserves the professional appearance of your home or business space
- Reduces odors and indoor allergens caused by previous spills, cleaners, or substances
- Lessens the need for frequent carpet cleaning or full replacement
